Relax, Explore and Make Memories on Our Isle of Wight Farm

Check out our 5-Star reviews!

There’s something special about waking up on a real working farm. The sound of birds at dawn, fresh country air drifting through the window, and views stretching across chalky downland towards the sea.

We’re Claudia and Andrew, and Cheverton Farm Holidays is our home as well as our livelihood. Our 750-acre livestock and arable farm near Shorwell sits in a peaceful valley between Newport and the south-west coast . It’s a place where cattle graze, crops grow, and guests are welcomed like old friends.

Our three self-catering cottages offer something for everyone:

  • Brummell Barn – a spacious, sociable retreat sleeping 12, perfect for multi-generational Isle of Wight family holidays.
  • The Beehive – our newest, single-level cottage sleeping 4, ideal for couples or small families seeking a peaceful Isle of Wight getaway.
  • Rowborough Cottage – a cosy country cottage sleeping 5, just 200 metres from the farm.

Each stay includes shared access to our indoor heated swimming pool (open mid-February to November), games room and playground, along with private bookable swim sessions for your cottage .

After a day exploring the Isle of Wight’s sandy beaches, coastal paths or cycle trails, you can return to a glowing log burner, a Mediterranean-style brick BBQ, or a starlit wander up to our hilltop firepit.

Children can meet the pygmy goats, miniature donkeys and pigs in the yard, while walkers and cyclists head straight out onto miles of downland tracks. We’re proud of the wildlife here too — red squirrels, rare wildflowers and even sea eagles have been spotted overhead .

Whether you’re planning relaxed Isle of Wight holidays with family, a celebration with loved ones (the peaceful kind — we don’t host parties), or a quiet countryside escape for two, you’ll find space to breathe here.

Come and experience a true Isle of Wight farm stay — with muddy boots outside, warm welcomes inside, and memories waiting to be made.

Life at Cheverton Farm on the Isle of Wight

Cheverton Farm is a 750-acre working livestock and arable farm set in the rolling countryside between Newport and Shorwell on the Isle of Wight. It’s a landscape of chalky downs, quiet valleys and wide skies, where farming and nature sit side by side.

Alongside caring for the land and our animals, we’ve created a small collection of self-catering cottages where guests can experience the peace and rhythm of farm life. Whether it’s watching the wildlife at dusk, wandering across the fields, or simply enjoying the quiet of the countryside, staying here offers a chance to slow down and reconnect with nature.

Come and discover the story behind our Isle of Wight farm and the family who cares for it.

Indoor Pool, Games Room and Proper Farm Fun

A big part of an Isle of Wight farm stay at Cheverton is having plenty to do without having to pile everyone back into the car. Our shared facilities are all here on the farm — perfect for post-beach swims, rainy-day energy burn-offs, and those “just one more go” moments before tea.

From splashing in the indoor heated pool to a round of air hockey or table tennis in the games room, and racing back to the playground before supper, days here fall into a happy rhythm. And in between it all, there’s the farmyard — where curious donkeys, cheeky goats and the everyday workings of our Isle of Wight farm quietly steal the show.

 Indoor Heated Pool

Swap sandy toes for a warm swim. Our indoor heated pool is open mid-February to November, with private bookable sessions for each cottage, so you can enjoy it at your own pace.

Games Room Moments

Perfect for a bit of friendly competition — with table tennis, air hockey and pool for those “winner stays on” holiday tournaments.

Playground Time

Climbing frame, slide, swings and a much-loved trampoline — it’s the sort of old-fashioned outdoor fun that keeps children busy for hours (and wonderfully tired by bedtime).

For many children, this is the real highlight of an Isle of Wight family holiday on the farm.

Our miniature donkeys are gentle souls, always ready for a scratch behind the ears, and our pygmy goats are full of character — curious, mischievous and often found perched somewhere they probably shouldn’t be. There are usually pigs snuffling in the yard, chickens scratching in the sunshine, and the steady hum of real farm life carrying on around them.

Children are very welcome to come and say hello. They can help gather leafy treats (with us nearby), learn why animals shouldn’t be over-fed, and discover the difference between livestock raised for farming and the smaller animals who live in the yard. It’s informal, hands-on and wonderfully grounding — the sort of gentle learning that happens naturally when you’re staying on a working Isle of Wight farm.

Goat Walks and Simple Farm Moments

And yes — sometimes we even take the goats for a little walk along the lane. There’s something rather special about seeing children proudly leading a goat on a rope, wellies muddy, completely absorbed in the moment.

It’s the kind of screen-free childhood memory that tends to linger long after the holiday ends — simple pleasures, fresh air, and real connections with animals and the land.

We just ask that little ones are supervised, and that animals aren’t fed unless we’ve given the nod — they’re very much part of our farm family.
